about these photos:
I visited Ethiopia for nine days in October of 2015 for the first time. Having had coworkers from Ethiopia I was inspired to visit this off the beaten-path destination. I landed in Addis Ababa (ADD) without a plan of attack or any concept of an itinerary. I do have to say I was shocked at the prices to see just about anything. As a solo traveler it was tough going to find anyone willing to team up for an adventure - so off I went on my own ...
I negotiated as best I could and set off from Addis Ababa, just my driver and I. First up was Gesuba where I hiked and explored markets where I was clearly the item on display. Every eye was on me. While it was initially an experience to behold, it soon became immediately overwhelming. Great pics though ...
Next up were the Konso and Dorzo villages (colours/people) followed by a trip to see crocs and hippos. Then off to Hawassa where my guide/driver and I had a bit of time to explore the city. While I saw a lot of tradition and real Ethiopia, in my heart of hearts I wish I had opted for then northern route with the real showstoppers/sights (albeit at triple the price). Nonetheless I saw what I saw and came away having my own unique Ethiopian experience ...
